Chicago "gun control" not really working, eh?

Scanning the headlines we see:
Just something to think about when McDonald vs Chicago gets argued in front of the Supreme Court...

(And lest you think this is a Chicago-only phenomenon, it most certainly is not:

Gangs in Palatine, Carpentersville:

An 83-city crackdown on immigrants tied to international drug gangs illustrates how a problem once relegated to Southwest border towns and large cities is steadily growing in smaller communities like Carpentersville and Palatine, U.S. officials in Chicago said Wednesday.

The presence of "transnational gangs" in the Midwest has increased so much that, in the last 18 months, 10 agents have been added to a task force targeting such activity in Illinois and surrounding states, said Gary Hartwig, special agent in charge of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigations in Chicago.

"There are more gangs in Illinois than any other state, based on (per capita) population," Hartwig said)

Not really working here either. Sun-Times Media Wire Chicago Sun-Times 2010. Posted: Thursday, 28 January 2010 9:16AM Robbers with homemade gun charged after unusual heist CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were charged after they allegedly robbed a Payless Shoe Source armed with what looked like a handgun but turned out to be a staple gun or wrench covered with duct tape Tuesday night in the South Side’s Chatham neighborhood. Joshua Bradley and Brian Brittnum who are both 23 and both of the 8200 block of South Throop Street were charged with two counts each of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon -- class x felonies, according to police. Police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines said the two were charged Wednesday. The two are scheduled to appear later Thursday in Central Bond Court (Br.1) for a hearing. At 8:47 p.m. video cameras at the Payless, 8552 S. Cottage Grove Ave., showed the two suspects wearing black jackets enter the store and produce what appeared to be a handgun while announcing a robbery, police said. Police said the video showed a bizarre scene. “This one kid comes into the store, he realized he forgot to pull the ski mask down so he pulled it down real quick -- so the eye holes were off, causing him to begin stumbling around,’’ before adjusting it, according to a police source. Police said it was also unusual that one customer was talking on her cell phone during the entire robbery -- didn’t even move -- and walked out after purchasing shoes while still on her cell phone. After allegedly taking cash from the register, Bradley and Brittnum allegedly fled in a 1990 Honda Accord. A citizen who saw the license plates called police who went to where it was registered to, in the 8300 block of South Ingleside Avenue, police said. At the Ingleside address, officers found the two suspects with the proceeds from the robbery, the masks and the makeshift weapon. Bradley and Brittnum were arrested about a half an hour after robbing the Payless, police said. Calumet Area detectives are investigating. All Rights Reserved.
